Dia Frampton: Acoustic Show (Singapore)
Upon learning that Dia Frampton was doing a series of shows in Southeast Asia, I prayed prayed PRAYED that she would swing by Singapore. Dia Frampton was the runner up of The Voice Season 1, and one of my favorite artists. Her style is perfect for easy listening.
I may be biased, but Dia Frampton gave a splendid debut performance. Her voice was flawless, and she looked gorgeous in her dress. In between songs, she would tell funny stories and exchange playful quips with her guitarist -- something I didn't expect from her since she was always portrayed to be very shy on The Voice.
Dia sang tracks from her Red album, opening with Isabella. Most of my favorites -- Daniel, Trapeze and The Broken Ones -- made the setlist. I was a bit sad that she didn't sing Home, though. She also did fun covers of Pumped Up Kicks by Foster The People and The Way I Am by Ingrid Michaelson. Of course, her The Voice hits didn't go missing. The audience sang along to her version of Heartless, clapped along as she sang Losing My Religion, and was moved as she relived The Voice with Inventing Shadows. Danny Bemrose of Scars on 45 accompanied her on the guitar since her guitarist, Carlo Gimenez, couldn't do the tour. He charmed the audience with his pretty British accent, revealing fun bits about Dia.
I'd say it was a short set -- I wanted more! But for $25, who am I to complain? And I got to meet her after the show! :) :) :)
