From Straight To Curly!
I have been wanting to get a perm for quite some time now. I've just been a little hesitant because friends that have had perms all wouldn't recommend it. I tried to get a perm back home, but the salon wouldn't give me one because my hair has already been rebonded.
I did a quick search on the internet and found out that rebonded hair can be permed using Digital Perm. It's supposedly gentler and less damaging to the hair. And that was all the convincing I needed.
So last night, I went over to Jean Yip Salon to get a digital perm. I talked to a stylist, and she assessed my hair. She bluntly told me that my hair could be permed but it would dry out after the process. We could remedy it with hair treatments, though. Since I really wanted curls, I gave it a [hesitant] go. My stylist was very nice. She explained every step to me, knowing it was the first time I was having my hair permed. She cut my hair into layers to prevent it from getting too poofy and applied protective cream before doing the actual perming. After curling my hair, she applied hair mask (for free!) for damage control. After about two and a half hours, I got my cuuurls! :)
The stylist decided to give me medium curls instead of the big curls/waves that I asked for. Since my hair had gone through so many rebond sessions, she wasn't sure if the big curls would hold. The medium curls ended up looking pretty. And true enough, my hair did dry out after the process. So I would need to apply serum after bathing, and come back for hair treatments (which was fine since I'd been planning to get my hair treated for the longest time).
We started at around 7:30PM and finished at 10 o'clock. I was the last customer in the salon. Haha. I was expecting it to be sloppy/hurried since we started quite late, but the stylist gave me excellent service.
I loved service so much that I signed up for their 10-session package. In a session, I can choose to have my hair rebonded, permed (digital), or treated. One session would be about SGD100 cheaper than the normal price and the package doesn't have an expiry date, and they would give me 15 packs of intensive hair wax -- all in all, it was a pretty sweet deal.
I am loving my curls. So far.
Let's see how long this love will last. LOL.
