Transformers: The Ride

Okay, Transformers: The Ride has got to be the coolest ride I've ever been on!

The Escapist and L
The boyfriend, L, had some visitors over the weekend, so we decided to take them to Universal Studios Singapore. Satur-date!  :))

I usually don't get excited about USS mainly because it's right in Singapore - I can go anytime I want to. I've been to USS a number of times and I know how hot (and sticky) you can get just by roaming the streets and queueing up for the rides. Plus, I hate lining up for rides because it takes up too much of my time. But this time, I was pretty pumped up. And my excitement could be summed up in one word: Transformers! Woot woot!

Transformers: The Ride was officially opened to the public on the 3rd of December last year. December, January and February have been busy months so I never really got the chance to try the ride until now. And I've been hearing nothing but raves about the Transformers ride, so I couldn't wait to try it. L got to try it back in December when they had their company outing at USS and M tried it (twice!) last month when his mother was visiting - they both said the ride was awesome. A little bit traumatized after experiencing The Revenge of the Mummy (high speed rollercoaster, hellooo, but I'm a scaredy-cat so don't take my scare meter seriously haha), I kept asking L if the ride was scary. And he kept telling me no, that it was just a little step-up from the Shrek 4D show.

So I was feeling pretty confident when we started lining up, it was only a 3D Special Effects ride after all. The waiting time was said to be 30 minutes but in actuality, it was almost an hour. There were about a gazillion queue rooms that we had to go through before reaching the actual ride. The queue rooms were designed to be a NEST (you know, Optimus Prime's team haha) base and you know you're almost done with the queue when you see the briefing by Bumblebee, Ratchet and Optimus Prime on the TV screens. After taking 3D glasses, we were finally loaded into the EVAC vehicle.

The ride begins with the vehicle approaching the first 3D screen and I immediately felt like I was part of a Transformers movie. I won't give too much away because the ride is basically a story but it involves the Autobots battling the Decepticons, and the EVAC is trying to protect the AllSpark. Between avoiding the Decepticons and keeping the AllSpark safe, the EVAC drives really fast around town, spins around to avoid being totaled, reverses at dead ends, almost gets blown up by Megatron's missile and gets thrown in the air across several buildings.

It all felt so real right from the very beginning - the wind in my hair, the hot air and fog because of the explosion, the tilts, the 3D effects - that I couldn't resist grabbing the lap bar and screaming. Yes, I screamed (and laughed) during the entire ride. Hahaha. Didn't I tell you I was a scaredy-cat? LOL. The spinning around was real, though, because I think there were more than two 3D screens inside the attraction. The ride ends with Bumblebee saving us and congratulating us on our mission.

The ride was fun-tastic! I can totally understand why M braved the long queue again for his second ride. This was definitely NOT just a step-up from Shrek 4D. LOL. It was so much fun being part of the show instead of just watching it. The effects were awesome, and the tilts and spins were exciting. Transformers: The Ride has just the right amount of thrill - enough to excite you but not scare you, and makes you want to go back in for more.

The next time I'm in USS, Transformers: The Ride will be at the top of my list.

That's right, Megatron! I will be back to defeat you again! LOL.
