Wickedly Awesome!

When news came that "Wicked: The Broadway Musical" was coming to Singapore, everyone wanted to watch it. With the numerous awards it has received, it was practically THE musical of the decade.

Having heard raving reviews from friends, I've been dying to watch "Wicked: The Broadway Musical" for months. It took us forever to decide on a date, on which seats we should choose, and on who should buy the tickets. Yes, we're indecisive like that. Haha.

So you can imagine my excitement when, last weekend, we finally got to watch the show. And, OMG, it was wickedly AWESOME!

The YAYs:
- The storyline. Elphaba and Galinda were as different as night and day. Elphaba was smart, misunderstood, and green-skinned. Galinda was beautiful and very popular. "Wicked" tells the story of the beautiful, albeit unlikely, friendship between The Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda (with a silent "ga" this time) the Good.
- The music. The musical productions were really good -- to say the least. "Defying Gravity" was an enchanting enchanting performance, I had chills right from the moment the song started until it ended with Elphaba high up in the air. "For Good" was also very moving, with Elphaba and Galinda singing about frienship and choices. It left me teary-eyed.
- The acting. I loved how each of the characters were portrayed, the performers couldn't have done it better. Suzie Mathers did an awesome job as Galinda, but Jemma Rix as Elphaba was my favorite.
- The stage setup. The lights, props and backdrop were remarkable. The stage would easily transition from one scene to another - it can take you from the classroom to the bedroom in a minute, from Oz to Emeral City in a jiff.
- The costumes. From simple to elaborate, the costumes suited every scene. I liked Galinda's dresses, and the Animals looked pretty cool. And, the gowns! I loved the gowns!

- The venue. "Wicked" performances were held at the Grand Theater of Marina Bay Sands, the fanciest hotel in Singapore.

The BOOs:
- Tickets are pretty expensive, ranging from S$35 to S$250 (roughly Php1,100 to Php8,000). We got the C Reserve seats, which cost us S$125 each. They weren't bad - we had a good view of the entire stage and we could still see the performers as people, not ants. Haha. But, lemme tell you, the show was worth every dollar.

Enjoying "Wicked" with L, O and B!
Needless to say, I loved the show! Funny, heartwarming, and truly spell-binding - this is one show you absolutely CANNOT miss. :)
