Hello, New Love

It was love at first sight.

I can still remember the first time I saw her... It was on a cold winter January day in Hong Kong. My friends and I were walking through the Central station, and there she was in all her glory - the beautiful Nikon 1 J1. From then on, I could see her everywhere. I just knew I had to have her. 

With the IT Show being held at the Suntec Convention Center from the 8th to the 11th of March, I was hoping against all hopes that there'd be a good deal for the J1. Because two months have passed since I first saw her and I was still dying to get my hands on the J1. I just knew it was not just some fleeting love. I was still in love with her, and I was willing to give up my Nikon D40 for her.


The kits were priced without discounts but they threw in quite a number of freebies. They offered four different kits: 10mm-30mm lens kit, 10mm lens kit, 10mm-30mm + 30mm-110mm lens kit, and 10mm + 10mm-30mm lens kit. I opted to get the 10mm-30mm lens kit because I already have a Nikkor prime lens and a zoom lens. (Yes, the DSLR Nikkor lenses can be used with the Nikon 1 cameras provided you get the adapter. Woot! :D)

I got my kit for SGD899. It seemed pretty steep for a compact camera but then again, this is not your regular compact camera. Just like an answered prayer, Nikon's J1 kit came with a lot of goodies!

It came with one Nikon carrying bag, a camera backpack, one Nikon cleaning kit, two SDHC Class 4 memory cards (8GB and 16GB), a card reader, a travel tripod, a remote control and a dry cabinet. The Nikon guy told me I would also be getting a mystery gift...

A brand new pink Nikon Coolpix L23 camera!

I wasn't expecting to get a free camera. It was pretty cool of them to include one. The SGD899 price didn't seem so steep anymore. Even the stingy boyfriend thought so too. LOL. 

And since one camera was certainly enough for me, I decided to sell the Coolpix L23 to my friend for SGD100. (OP: SGD129)


It was one good day: I finally got my pretty J1, some cool freebies and a free camera! I was a very happy shopper! So, everyone, it's time to meet my new love: Snow White. Sleek, sexy and just lovely. Don't you think so?

Can't wait to use my Snow White in my next escape! :)
